Surely you know how important it is to remove your makeup before bedtime…. And yet sometimes it doesn’t always get done, am I right?

Seriously, taking off your makeup and removing the sunscreen, dirt, and oil buildup from your day is crucial when it comes to healthy, glowing skin. But I get it- sometimes a full-on double cleanse is the last thing you want to do at the end of the day.

DIY facial cleansing wipes. These wipes are perfect for breaking down makeup particles and giving the skin a quick cleanse. You can reach for one of these wipes on those days when you just can't bring yourself to fully wash your face.

NOTE: they are not a replacement for your oil cleanser or for your face wash as they will not thoroughly clean your skin which can lead to clogged pores and breakouts. Think of them as an option every now and again.

As a bonus, these DIY cleansing face wipes are great for long airplane or car rides when you need a quick refresher, or for post-workout when you need to remove sweat and grime from your face but don’t have the option to fully wash.

How to Make Cleansing Face Wipes

- 3/4 cup distilled water (It is important to use distilled water to prevent bacteria or mold growth.)

- 1/2 cup witch hazel (I like both rose or cucumber for these wipes, but unscented is great too)

- 1 TB carrier oil of choice: jojoba, grapeseed, olive, etc.

- 1 TB castile soap

- 10-20 “wipes” (see below)

- 1 glass storage jar

For your “wipes” there are a few different things you could use. Cotton rounds are an easy and affordable option that fits nicely into a round glass storage jar. Alternatively, you could purchase a few baby washcloths which make for a soft, durable, and reusable option. Even more eco-friendly would be to use an old t-shirt, cut up into 2x2 inch squares.

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl and mix well. Pour the solution into your storage jar and press your wipes down, 1 by 1, into the liquid. Use as you would any regular facial cleansing wipes. If you’ve chosen one of the reusable options, it is quick and easy to throw them in the washing machine in a washable bag or like you would a normal towel. Store your cleansing wipes in a cool, dry location.

Why These Wipes are Skin-Friendly

Witch Hazel: Witch hazel is a natural astringent that can gently remove excess oil from the skin. It can also ease inflammation in the skin and tighten pores.

Carrier Oil: Oils are great for removing makeup, sunscreen, and dirt from the skin. You can really use any carrier oil that you know works well with your skin.

Castile Soap: Castile soap is one of those truly multi-purpose ingredients. It is a super-concentrated vegetable-based soap that is antibacterial and mild enough for even the most sensitive skin types.
